SEPULTURA in Vienna – 'Heavy Samba' Party at the Danube
Vienna [ENA] On July 25th, in the course of their tour across Europe, SEPULTURA (Portuguese for grave), the four heavy metal icons from Belo Horizonte (Brazil) gave one of their great thrash concerts at the prestigious Szene club in the Austrian capital. In the 'guitar case' their brandnew album 'Kairos'.
The location was practically sold out. Hours before the Brazilian metal gods entered their stage, crush of people filled in the place. Freaks, as far as the eye could see, at the lounge, the bar, the beer garden outside and of course at the concert hall, 'inhaling' the steam with heavy metal content, produced by Morthem, Dystrust (both bands from Vienna) and A Traitor Like Judas from Braunschweig/Germany. All of them excellent performers, knowing how to stoke up the audience, for example inviting a young girl on stage for a small talk between two songs, turned out as perfect pioneers for the thrash metal heroes, everyone was waiting for: SEPULTURA.
To the stroke of the gong at 10.15 p.m., like the running order was promising, Derrick Leon Green (vocals), Andreas Kisser (guitars), Paulo Xisto Pinto Jr. (bass) and Jean Dolabella (drums) appeared on stage, amid rapturous applause of their fans who were beside themselves with joy, finally to hear and to see their heroes. Shrouded by fog patches of dry ice, alternately surrounded by darkness and agressive stage lightings right up to blazing white flood light almost hurting the eyes, the four metal guys were rocking and thrashing the daylights out of themselves. Every song like a bullet, hard-core, loud and plain. This event – a treat to the eyes and ears of everyone whose heart is beating metal.
